Harry Cates, MA, LPC
Harry was born in Dallas. Ever the adventurer, he is still here! Harry lives in the area and has four wonderful children (Hannah, Cecily, Avery and Eli). And if they aren't enough to keep him busy, he also has Penelope the cat, Betsy the dog and Teddy the turtle. Teddy and his fishy friends now live here at LifeWorks.
Harry Cates has been counseling for over 10 years, seeing clients of all ages ranging from 3 years old to 103 years old. Harry first trained at Baylor University earning a Bachelors of Science in psychology, and then after leaving Baylor went on to earn a Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling and a Masters of Arts in Religious Education. Harry is currently an adjunct professor of psychology at Dallas Baptist University, where he has been teaching since 1995.
Harry is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Harry has a strong background counseling adolescents and adults for issues like anxiety, ADD, ADHD, addictions, blended family issues, depression, divorce recovery, codependency, and marital and parenting concerns. Harry has a particular interest in elder care, working with older adults and their families who are dealing with the ever present challenges of growing older.
In addition to the passion Harry has for his work, he dives head first into competitive sports football, baseball, basketball, tennis--whatever. He enjoys playing and watching his kids play as well. He also finds music to be a great pleasure and outlet in his life - not just for listening but also jamming with friends or making music of his own.
