Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Katie grew up with two fantastic parents and three supportive (and crazy) sisters. At the age of eight, she and her family moved out to the then small town south of Fort Worth. During her teenage years, Katie fell in love with music. Excelling at her musical endeavors, she struggled with deciding where to go to college and what to major in. Combining her love of music and her passion for helping people, she packed her bags and decided to leave Fort Worth to head to Texas Woman’s University in Denton to study music therapy.
Katie graduated in 2008 and practiced as a board-certified music therapist for five years before she realized something was missing. Doing some soul searching and counseling of her own, she was able to pinpoint the missing piece. She wanted to deepen her therapeutic understanding of individuals, so she decided to apply to
counseling graduate programs. Katie is currently working towards a dual masters degree in Music Therapy & Counseling from Texas Woman’s University (we think she’s an over-achiever). We were lucky enough to snag her for her masters level internship, and she is thrilled to join the team! True to her roots, Katie works out of our Fort Worth office (duh).
Plain and simple, Katie’s life passion is helping people. She specializes in music therapy, GIM, and is passionate about the special needs population. Katie also enjoys working with depression, anxiety, play therapy, couples, adolescents, and the LGBTQQIAA community.
In her free time, you can find Katie spending time with her family and boyfriend, and loving on her pups. She has five awesome fur babies, one of which is working towards his therapy dog certification and grand champion title (can you say power couple?).
