A Dallas native, Lexie grew up in Allen, Texas, before moving to Italy, Texas, (total population 2,200) to finish up her high school career. After adjusting to the culture shock, she realized “It-lee” had its perks, and she embraced the one stoplight town.
With her dad being a die-hard Baylor fan (sic ‘em), it was a no brainer where Lexie would go to college. At Baylor, she studied journalism, media design, and marketing.
However, after a few dissatisfying internships, Lexie realized she was headed down a personally unfulfilling career path. After lots of prayers and soul searching, she realized she was being called to the counseling field. As someone who calls herself a “people person” and has always loved getting to know others’ stories, it seemed like a perfect fit. She then applied to counseling graduate programs and kept her fingers crossed. She was accepted to the University of North Texas, where she graduated with her Masters of Science in Counseling.
The summer after Lexie graduated from college, her stepdad of 20 years died in a car accident. This experience has given Lexie a heart for grief recovery. She understands how painful, confusing, and isolating grief can often feel, and she is passionate about helping others navigate the waters to find a new
In addition to grief and loss, Lexie enjoys working with depression, abuse and trauma recovery, and women’s issues. Lexie often incorporates EMDR therapy, a cutting edge therapy for working with complex trauma, anxiety, grief, and other disturbing experiences, into her work with her clients. She also specializes in working with individuals who grew up in a chaotic home, and therefore didn’t receive the full “emotional toolkit”.
Lexie’s life goal is to help everyone she meets feel worthy, loved, and special (because they are!) This belief informs and guides her work as a therapist. She gets personal fulfillment from walking alongside others as they work to overcome obstacles and learn to love themselves in the process. She believes in the power of gratitude and helps her clients uncover the gifts that come from living with a grateful mindset.
A self-proclaimed bookworm, Lexie loves to read and will gladly talk Harry Potter with you. In her spare time, she loves to write, cook (she once won first place in a cake-baking contest), and work out. She also enjoys watching Baylor football and spending time with her family (she has three younger sisters!) and friends.
“There isn’t a person you wouldn’t love if you could read their story.”
