Besides a five-year stint in St. Louis, Missouri, Shannon has lived in the Dallas area her entire life. Growing up as a student athlete, Shannon took pride in both her academic and athletic achievements. In high school, Shannon realized she marched to the beat of her own drum, for which she encountered a lot of criticism from her peers. Needless to say, high school was a tough time for Shannon. Nonetheless, she is thankful for these lessons and experiences because she wouldn’t be who she is today without them.

Wanting to buck the trends of everyone in her high school, Shannon began her college journey at Oklahoma State University. She quickly realized it wasn’t the best fit for her, which led her to apply to Texas Christian University. She started her sophomore year as very proud Horned Frog (RIFF RAMM) and later graduated with her Bachelors in Science in Psychology with minors in Criminal Justice and Child Development. Shannon worked part time as a nanny for a family in Fort Worth during her college years, which helped her discover her natural connection with kids. After graduating, Shannon quickly found that a desk job just wasn’t for her. This led her to apply to graduate school, where she is now working towards her Masters in Clinical Mental Health and Counseling at Texas Women’s University. She will finish and graduate in August of 2017. Through her time in the program, she has gained

a strong connection to the art of Play Therapy, something she never knew about before.

Shannon is a self-proclaimed yogi. She picked up the practice early in college and continues to practice today. She is currently a vinyasa teacher and has hopes of adding to her certifications and becoming licensed in Psychotherapeutic Yoga and participating in Lifeworks LISPY teachings and practice. Shannon was diagnosed with ADHD as a young adult, and she wholeheartedly believes yoga (along with a more natural lifestyle) has not only helped her battle her ADHD but has also given her a clearer perspective on a life that fits for her. She is so excited to be a part of the Lifeworks team (and we’re excited to have her!). She loves to be a helping hand and sound voice for anyone she encounters.

In her spare time, you can find Shannon changing her hair color (its currently blue), on her yoga mat, at music festivals and concerts, snuggling with her Italian Greyhound Athena, enjoying time with her family and friends, or most likely traveling. She has a goal to visit every place in the world once, she and is slowly checking off locations (and racking up airline miles – woohoo!). When she’s at home, you’ll find her cheering on her Horned Frogs, as well as her Chicago teams (Go Blackhawks, Bears, Bulls, and Cubs!). She’s a foodie at heart, and is always looking for a hip restaurant to try.
