Alicia knows that you need to feel comfortable with your therapist, whoever that is! She also knows that the relationship needs to be really solid so that you can feel safe with your counselor. She works with clients to establish clear, attainable goals that will not only improve the client’s mental health but improve the world around them. She specializes in families (pre-marital, blended families), issues related to minorities (ex. Racial tension, microaggressions, etc.) trauma, anxiety and depression, and coming of age life struggles (independence, self-esteem, problem-solving, life-planning, career orientation).
Alicia, who is originally from Bossier City, Louisiana and likes to say that she got to Texas as fast as she could! She moved to Fort Worth in 2012 to pursue her undergraduate degree at Texas Christian University. While she originally started as a Kinesiology major, her interests changed when she took a Psychology of Men and Women’s course for a psychology minor. As she learned about the power of therapy and psychology to change lives, she knew this is how she wanted to serve others. Once Alicia graduated from TCU, she started work in higher education as a college advisor. Seeing first-hand the toll of anxiety and stress on students (especially students of color) fueled her passion for becoming a therapist. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and will graduate May 2021.
When she is not working at Lifeologie Cedar Hill, she is exploring new food places in DFW with her fiancé or trying new recipes at home. Alicia says: “I am always taking food recommendations!” She loves a good coffee shop (who doesn’t!), old mystery novels (ex. Hercule Poirot), and spending time with her friends and family.
