Devan has a passion for working with children and adolescents through play therapy. She also loves working with individuals across the lifespan experiencing life transitions, stress, trauma, anxiety, and depression.
Devan’s method of treatment is tailored to meet the unique needs of each person. In her approach, she believes it is important for clients to feel seen, valued, and heard. Her goal is to create a warm, safe, and welcoming environment for the client based on the following qualities: unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and empathy. Therefore, Devan thrives to maintain a therapeutic relationship and engage in a collaborative process between herself and the client. DEvan works close with her clients to establish goals for therapy, identify and tackle any hurdles towards healing, and explore what brings value, meaning and purpose to your life.
Devan earned her Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration with a minor in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Legal Studies at Texas State University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Southern Methodist University (SMU). During her graduate career at Texas State University, Devan served as an Academic Coach. She advised all incoming freshman and first-year students. She also empowered students to build academic self-confidence, self-motivation and addressed their concerns regarding their academics and social life. During her undergraduate career, Devan worked as an Upward Bound Tutor Counselor at SMU where she mentored high school minority students from low-income families and provided career guidance and academic planning for high school and college.
Born and raised in the heart of Dallas, Texas Devan is a native to the DFW area! She loves spending quality time with family and friends and rediscovering my hometown. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and doing all things self-care.
