Get to know Carolyn

Carolyn Switzer calls Texas home, although she enjoyed spending her childhood years in the Midwest and the first few years of her marriage (and birth of her first child!) in Asia. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Baylor University and worked for software companies for over a decade, developing and writing training materials.

Carolyn discovered her true passion through various volunteer roles in the community and at church.  Whether it was teaching preschoolers, mentoring young women, co-leading adult small groups, or providing support to at-risk adolescents and children, she was grateful for the opportunity to invest in people’s lives and learn their stories along the way.

When Carolyn was in her 20’s, a relationship crisis led her to seek counseling.  As she experienced support, growth, and healing through the counseling relationship, it became her dream to provide that support for others on their journey of healing and growth.

Decades later, after experiencing the joys and challenges of life, marriage, and parenting, Carolyn is thrilled to be at Lifeologie, partnering with children, adolescents, and adults, as they walk through grief, loss, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, and parenting.

Carolyn takes a relational and flexible approach to counseling, carefully considering each person’s unique needs and goals.  She employs a psychodynamic framework that is also solution-focused and strengths-based.  Carolyn looks forward to continually learning new approaches that will best serve those she works with.

Married for 22 years with two college-age children, Carolyn enjoys spending time outdoors with those she loves (including her Labrador!), devouring her husband’s delicious cooking, and catching the occasional theater production or college sports game with her son and daughter.  She finds a deep restorative power in connecting with others and with God.
