Get to know Divina

Divina was born in Rwanda (whoa!), raised in Kenya and now enjoys living in the DFW.

After arriving in the United States, Divina was plunged into a new culture, and didn’t have a strong support system that understood what she was going through. Understandably, Divina experienced depression and anxiety during this time. A professor at the time suggested that she seek counseling services for herself.

She took the advice and as she went through those moments of healing and self-discovery, Divina grew fond of the profession and experienced firsthand how much of a difference it makes having an unbiased person to talk to. With the experience of living and navigating multiple cultures, she has an awareness of how culture affects emotional, social, mental, and spiritual development. She is passionate about helping adults of all ages who are experiencing grief, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and multicultural issues. Divina earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Woman’s University.

Divina believes that in order for people to be mentally and/or emotionally healthy, they need a space of acceptance where they can express themselves free of judgment. Divina strives to meet people where they are in their journey to walk alongside them as they continue to grow and discover themselves.

She enjoys video calling with her long-distance family members, spending time with her newfound family and friends here in Texas, listening to music, reading, or watching her favorite TV shows.
