Get to know Emma

Emma Knowlton works with adults and adolescents struggling with trauma, anxiety, self-esteem, communication and relationship concerns, major life changes, and career concerns. She thrives in helping clients who may feel weighed down by the past or “stuck” in unhelpful patterns by using EMDR, which has been widely researched as an effective therapy for helping to resolve trauma and adverse life experiences. Emma believes understanding, acceptance, and connection – with ourselves and with others – form the foundation of our healing and fulfillment. You have, at all times, the power to redesign your life. It is never too late for clarity, growth, and healing.

Emma strives to bring warmth and genuineness to her work with clients, while helping them to explore the beliefs, behaviors, and or feelings that may no longer be serving them well. Trust us – she’s super calming! You’ll want to tell her your life story 5 minutes in.

Emma grounds her approach in the proven techniques of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, and additional research-backed practices, but believes in a flexible approach that is adjusted to best meet each person’s needs and goals. She is also trained in Collaborative Divorce, which is a family-centered divorce process that allows for separating spouses to work through issues and towards interests with the guidance of mental health, legal, and financial professionals.

Emma received her Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University with a specialty in Marriage and Family Counseling. Prior to pursuing her passion for mental health counseling, Emma worked in business strategy consulting. When she’s not in session, Emma loves to recharge by getting outside for walks, runs, hikes, or pool days (preferably with her golden retriever Bruce by her side!), trying new restaurants and recipes, and crossing new cities and countries off her bucket list.
