Get to know Ly

Ly Tran has a unique passion for issues related to marriage & family, depression, and abuse/trauma, especially within the context of cross-cultural relationships and various ethnic backgrounds. He enjoys faith-based counseling, dealing with these and other issues with a biblical perspective as he continues serving part-time as a counseling pastor at Chase Oaks Church.
His sweet spot is marriage counseling and relationship issues because he thrives in conflict, seeing them as entry points to healthier communication and deeper connection.

Ly (pronounced “Lee”) works out of several Lifeologie locations as well as through teletherapy. He is a Licenced Professional Counselor-Supervisor with a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling. He completed a Doctorate of Ministry at Dallas Theological Seminary in Marriage & Family for the purpose of educating and teaching future therapists.

Ly was born in Houston two years after his parents left South Vietnam during the war in 1975. Growing up in a dual-culture environment, Ly developed a heightened awareness of how a person’s family and culture can affect emotional, social and spiritual development.

After high school, he went on to Trinity University in San Antonio and then spent a few years as an IT consultant for Deloitte.  He eventually discovered that instead of solving problems with computers he much more enjoyed problem-solving complex issues in relationships. Along the way, he picked up entrepreneurial business skills renovating houses and running a Paciugo (Italian gelato shop), adding to his repertoire of trades that have aided him to better connect with his clients.  To unwind and relax, Ly is a huge fan of movies and his Houston Rockets.  Ly and his wife are also proud parents of 3 children and a baby son he’ll reunite with one day in heaven.

In 2017, he became the proud owner of Lifeologie Counseling Richardson/Plano and Frisco, and has added Houston, Sugar Land, Austin and Washington Township in the meantime.

In addition to his work at Lifeologie his newly discovered passion in writing stemmed from a desire to share what over a decade of experience as a counselor has taught him.  So, he launched the Watershed Initiative for the purpose of collaborating with local communities to help raise the level of dialogue, transparency, and awareness on mental health and relationship issues through articles, blogs, and workshops. He additionally specializes in Christian Marriage Counseling, Christian Pre-engagement, Christian Pre-marital, Couples Counseling, Infidelity, Marriage Counseling and Relationship Issues.
