Get to know Pallavi

Pallavi originally moved to the United States from Nepal at the age of four. During her first few years in the United States, living in rural areas, she witnessed the hardships that families had to endure in order to adjust to the culture in a new country and be able to provide for their families. Throughout her childhood and her adolescence, she has been able to experience the different lifestyles of many communities; from rural areas of Chicago, Illinois, to the suburban areas of Omaha, Nebraska, and then to the diversified communities of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Moving from city to city as she grew older, allowed her to understand the different problems that are present in all different communities in all different age groups.

As a counselor, Pallavi has been working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationship conflicts and roadblocks, adults facing life changes, South Asian cultural stressors and trauma, as well as childhood and complex trauma, and stress. Pallavi is also currently an EMDR trained therapist who has experience working with trauma as well as unresolved emotional experiences. She uses solution-focused approaches, as well as cognitive approaches, to guide individuals to a better understanding of their own patterns of thinking.

Pallavi received her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Mary’s University, in San Antonio, Texas, in 2016, and decided to move back to Dallas to further her career. Pallavi believes that it is important to work on educating members of the diversified communities of Dallas on the importance of taking care of their mind as well as their bodies. Pallavi works with guiding individuals to learn how to manage their daily life struggles, depression, stress, anxiety, loss, and adjustment. Pallavi feels that she also had to do a lot of self-exploration to find her place as a South Asian American and what that means to her; she wants to be able to share and use her experience to help others as well.

When she is not counseling, Pallavi loves to be doing anything from baking, binge-watching Friends on Netflix, finding hole-in-the-wall coffee shops, spending time with her family and dog, to traveling the world. She loves learning about new cultures and getting to experience the beautiful sights that we have all over the world. The older she gets the more countries/cities she wants to visit.
