As an elementary school teacher for 19 years, Debra is no stranger to helping children and parents in need. When children, adults, and couples experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is common for their lives to unravel. Debra’s great passion is bringing healing to people who are struggling. She helps people work through troubling issues affecting their lives. She loves helping her clients, including children, adults, couples, and families, to find healthy perceptions of themselves, change their unhealthy thought processes, and strengthen their relationships so they can make the necessary changes to know themselves completely and feel whole and safe.
Debra understands that no one approach will fit everyone, and so she applies creativity to a range of approaches and therapies to help each client with what they need.
While teaching Debra had a specialization in working with children experiencing behavioral disorders. Debra has vast experience in assisting parents to advocate for their children in the public education system. One of her passions is diving deep to uncover the sources of discomfort and help each client find what is driving their behaviors and helping them find change.
Having raised two children as a single mother herself, Debra understands the struggles of today’s modern family. Additionally, one of Debra’s passion is to work with LGBT adolescents and teens as well as their families as she has personal experience with the LGBT adolescent/teen community and the associated stresses and tribulations that may be affecting relationships.
Debra’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Texas in Interdisciplinary Studies & Elementary Education and will graduate in November 2020 with a Master of Arts degree from Amberton University in Professional Counseling.
