Emma’s counseling approach is based on the belief that people are primarily motivated, fulfilled, and healed by connection, understanding, and acceptance by ourself and by others. She works primarily with adults and adolescents struggling with grief, communication and relationship issues, life direction, self-esteem, career concerns, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. Emma also helps clients who may feel “stuck” or weighed down by past traumatic experiences using EMDR, which has been widely researched as an effective therapy for helping resolve trauma by stimulating the brain’s natural approach to process memories.

Emma strives to bring warmth and genuineness to her sessions while helping clients explore the beliefs, behaviors, and or feelings that may no longer be serving them well. Trust us – she’s super calming! You’ll want to tell her your life story like 5 minutes in. Emma grounds her work in the proven techniques of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, and other evidence-based practices but believes in a flexible approach that is adjusted to best meet each individuals’ needs and goals. She believes you have, at all times, the power to redesign your life. It is never too late for clarity, growth, and healing.

Emma has her Master of Science in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. Before pursuing her passion for mental health counseling, Emma worked in business strategy consulting. Prior to becoming a part of the Lifeologie family, Emma served clients at SMU’s Center for Family Counseling and worked as a student research assistant in the UTSW Psychosocial Research and Depression Clinic, where she was responsible for literary research on the topics of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, mood disorders, and world health.

When she’s not in session, Emma loves to recharge by getting outside for walks, runs, hikes, or pool days (preferably with her golden retriever Bruce by her side!), trying new restaurants and recipes, and crossing new cities and countries off her bucket list.
