An online 8-week workshop exploring the ins and outs of mindfulness; what it is, how to utilize it, the importance of mindfulness, and strategies for using it with yourself and your patients or clients. Come learn, practice mindfulness and FREE YOUR MIND!!

Zakiya Futrell is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in North Carolina. She is a recent alumna of North Carolina State University (go pack!) where she earned her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in May 2021. Prior to continuing her passion of mental health by gaining her M.Ed, in counseling, Zakiya completed her Bachelors in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2019.

Her love for mental health started her freshman year of high school when she took her first of many psychology courses. While discussing and researching mental health within the African American community she noticed the lack of accessibility and resources surrounding mental health within her community and wanted to utilize her platform to not only advocate and bring awareness to this matter, but to also create change within her community.

Throughout her studies, Zakiya discovered Mindfulness and quickly fell in love with the freedom she felt when practicing Mindfulness! Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness is a quality that every human being already possesses, it’s something that is already within you, you just have to learn how to access it! Zakiya would love to help you do just that.
