About

Grief is the term that describes our reaction to loss—and for any two people, that reaction will vary. We all grieve differently. Some turn grief inward or feel uncomfortable sharing our emotions, choosing to isolate and handle it all alone. Others feel conflicting emotions about loss, such as relief as a loved one is released from prolonged suffering. Others experience an unmanageable grief that outlives the customary or “normal” mourning period.

Death is not the only event that qualifies as a “grievable” loss. Grief can also arise from the loss of a relationship, a job, a change in physical capabilities, moving, and many other life events. Counseling can help you address your emotional responses, develop healthy and progressive coping strategies, and work with you to take steps towards acceptance, on your time.
