Ashleigh was born in London, England (oy!) and has moved between there, Jamaica, and Texas. From traveling and moving multiple times, she gained the ability to be open and willing to learn and respect various cultures, values, and perspectives.
Having experienced mental health issues and traumatic events since the early age of 8, Ashleigh puts emphasis on engaging in various forms of therapy to ensure that she continues to grow and heal. She has utilized her story to inspire, motivate, and support those experiencing similar issues. From her experiences, Ashleigh believes counseling and serving others is her purpose. She has six years of experience in working with adults who are tackling issues with mental health and substance abuse, especially within the criminal justice system.
Ashleigh is a Master’s Level Intern, training to become a licensed professional counselor (LPC). While Ashleigh is excited to work with all types of folks and mental health difficulties, she says “I like to work with adolescents, individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, individuals with severe depression and anxiety disorders, individuals experiencing bullying, and those having issues with self-harm.”
One constant for Ashleigh throughout the years has been her love for dancing; she previously conducted classes where she incorporated therapeutic interventions in sessions, as a way of promoting empowerment, growth, healing, and a positive mindset. Along with dancing, in her spare time, Ashleigh enjoys traveling, cycling, and binge-watching TV!
