Haide (pronounced: Hay-dee) was born in California (Cali girl!), but raised in Texas. As a child, she had a creative mind that some would call an “overactive imagination.” Now she uses her creativity to work with others as they explore their life experiences. She has been working as a music therapist using music to connect people with themselves, their music, and the world.
Haide first found her love for music as she became involved throughout high school. She never imagined that her high pitch notes on the flute would transform into a career. Her interest in working with people started after high school when she found herself struggling with depression and anxiety. With the support of a mentor and close friends, she decided to seek a counselor. She was then able to find her way and became inspired to help others.
To continue on her path, Haide is working on integrating her music therapy skills with counseling. She received her bachelor’s degree in music therapy at Texas Woman’s University, where she is now working on completing a dual Master’s degree in counseling and music therapy. Her primary focus has been working with children and adolescents with a variety of experiences, including developmental disabilities, anxiety, depression, trauma, racial trauma, and at-risk behaviors. She is also passionate about gaining experience in working with adults as well.
As part of her journey, Haide envisions exploring human experiences through a person-centered lens. She also integrates different approaches to meet the needs of each unique individual. Her hope is to empower others to find their path and discover new ways of living their life to the fullest. She believes everyone is capable of writing their own stories, and she is here to join along in the process.
Haide loves long walks in the park, with a good book and portable hammock in hand. There is never a dull moment in her world. You can find her exploring the outdoors, trying out a DIY project, meditating, or writing songs. She also enjoys spending time with the special people in her life that include her three cats (yes, they are like people), her family, and amazing friends.
