Getting to Know Ashley

Ashley’s childhood dream was to write and have a house full of animals. As she grew, she continually found herself in situations where she was counseling people despite the stigmatization of counseling and lack of resources in her small Kentucky hometown. Her faith, particular individuals, and significant events impacted her eventual pursuit towards a career in counseling. That shift for her was best captured by a C.S. Lewis quote, “The more we let God take over, the more truly ourselves we become.” Now, she has a passion for and loves her current work in counseling and enjoys a house full of kids and possibly one day will add animals to the mix.

Integrative Approach

Ashley relocated to Dallas and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Masters in Counseling. While she learned to integrate Biblical truth in counseling with research-proven, effective techniques, it is also important for her to meet people where they’re at regardless of their faith background.

She specializes in adult individuals and couples and has success in working with couples who are struggling with infidelity and rebuilding trust. Her experience varies from pre-marital and marital issues to anxiety, depression, post-partum depression, grief, and past abuse and trauma.

Ashley’s personal experience on the field leads to a passion for working with missionaries and those serving in cross-cultural ministries. She is also a certified instructor for Prepare and Enrich, an assessment and facilitator-led program geared towards marriage preparation and relationship enrichment.

Regaining Hope

Ashley’s passion is to see couples and individuals regain hope and begin thriving in their circumstances. For couples, she seeks to provide a space for each person to feel valued, respected, and free to share their thoughts/feelings. For individuals, she seeks to provide an environment where people do not feel criticized but free to be who they are and valued for their individuality.

She combines cognitive behavioral therapy with attachment theory to assist clients to understand their beliefs and how to move forward. Finding hope is essential, and Ashley will be there to speak encouragement when clients may feel there is little to give.

Ashley is interracially married and loves being involved in a Chinese church where her husband is the youth pastor. She has two young, busy boys with another one on the way. In her free time, she loves to travel to new places, eat at hole-in-the-wall restaurants, or just cuddle up in overstuffed chairs and read.
