Our world turned upside down in March. If you’re the parent of an elementary school-aged child, everything changed. EVERYTHING. With no warning. From where the kids are and when, to work schedules, to who comes and goes from your house, to extracurricular activities, to taking primary ownership of your kids’ education. Holy cow you guys. This is hard.
Not only can I sympathize with you, but I also empathize with you. As the mother of 2 young children, my world turned upside down too. I know that you have lost many things: from alone time to time with your partner, to time being around other adults. We even lost our sitters…
There is no book for parenting in a pandemic. No one has done this in the US in the last century. We don’t have a broad knowledge base to pull from. Our moms and grandmothers couldn’t prepare us for how to handle this. However, we do have general parenting research and child development research to pull from. We have each other.
