Katie understands that life can get messy sometimes. She is passionate about getting to know YOU and helping you find and take the next steps in overcoming those challenges! Depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship, and life issues can sometimes be difficult to navigate on your own, so Katie wants to help make the process a little bit easier. While Katie loves working with just about anyone, she is truly passionate about helping teens and young adults overcome those challenges and step into living a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
From the Twin Cities to the Motor City, Katie was born and lived just outside of Minneapolis and eventually in a small suburb of Detroit for most of her childhood and teen years. She originally studied to be a journalist at Hope College, however changed course through an internship where she discovered that her passions were more in truly connecting with and getting to know people for who they uniquely are. The “counseling spark” grew even more through her job working and living in an urban community setting in downtown Minneapolis after graduation. Katie continues to pursue her love of people and psychology through graduate school and is currently an intern with Lifeologie Grand Rapids, working towards her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Cornerstone University.
Katie believes in helping her clients become their most authentic selves, and that everything that has happened in our lives (the good, the bad, and even the ugly) have helped shape us into who we are today and can become steppingstones into creating the change that we want to see. Katie wants to help you embrace the messy, and will you be your constant and consistent supporter along the way.
Katie’s favorite food is ice cream, and she eats it almost every day (yes, even in the winter too!). In her free time, she loves to read, travel (pre-world pandemic), run, go for hikes, have long conversations with her sister, and try out different local restaurants in the area.
