Valerie is a North Dallas native-more specifically, from Farmers Branch. After graduating from RL Turner High School she attended North Texas State University – now known as UNT – where she majored in Business and became a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.
The summer of her junior year, not thinking she would actually GET the job, she applied for the elusive position of Flight Attendant. Three months later, she uprooted her world and moved to mid-town Manhattan in New York City, where the most informative years of her life began. She not only traveled extensively throughout the US and abroad, but made her home in a variety of places including San Juan and St. Croix. During her 26-year career as a flight attendant, she developed her expertise in customer service as well as refined her organizational skills. Her motto (along with her bestie) is “we can get more done in 1 day than most people can do in a week!” So, they started a small organizing business that morphed into an event planning company where they planned a variety of parties and events of all sizes and budgets.
It was after returning home from her 40th birthday party in Scotland with friends, that her life would be set to a new trajectory. She met her now ex-husband, married, and became a new mom to her only child, Willem now 12. The struggles of being a newlywed and stay-at-home-mom led her to the practice of yoga to manage her anxiety. She completed a 200hr teacher training, a Yoga2Life Coaching certification and found her passion in her ongoing study of the Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga methodology. She divorced after three years of marriage, retired from flying and opened a yoga studio in Denton, Texas. This created a deeper dive into her life’s purpose that inevitably presented a chance meeting with Melanie Wells – the founder of Lifeologie. It was Melanie that connected her to Linda Graham, the new owner of the Lifeologie Counseling Oak Cliff and the rest is history! Not only is this business manager position in her wheelhouse, but all this therapy “talk” in conjunction with her life experiences, has inspired her to finish her undergrad and move forward with obtaining an LPC – her life’s purpose.
When she’s not caring for clients or collaborating with the Oak Cliff team, she can be found studying, cheering loudly at Willem’s lacrosse games, or wrangling her 3-legged rescue dog, Oliver, — another Melanie connection!
