Lexie is our go-to girl for trauma recovery and some of our other tricky cases. She works with complex trauma and PTSD recovery – anything from sexual abuse to subtler forms of childhood emotional neglect or abandonment. She often incorporates EMDR therapy, a cutting edge therapy for working with complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, grief, and other disturbing experiences, into her work with her clients. If you’re unfamiliar with EMDR, you should read up on it – it’s groovy stuff. In addition to trauma recovery, Lexie enjoys working with grief, depression, anxiety, adolescents, young adults in transition, and women’s issues.
Lexie’s life goal is to help everyone she meets feel worthy, loved, and special (because they are!) This belief informs and guides her work as a therapist. She gets personal fulfillment from walking alongside others as they work to overcome obstacles and learn to love themselves in the process. Lexie brings her personality into the therapy room and believes that humor and laughter are vital parts of the healing process. She believes in the power of gratitude and helps her clients uncover the gifts that come from living with a grateful mindset.
A Dallas native, Lexie grew up in Allen, Texas, before moving to Italy, Texas, (total population 2,200) to finish up her high school career. After adjusting to the culture shock, she realized “It-lee” had its perks, and she embraced the one stoplight town.
Lexie attended Baylor University for her Bachelors degree, where she studied journalism, media design, and marketing. However, after a few dissatisfying internships, Lexie realized she was headed down a personally unfulfilling career path (pitching press releases gets really old, really quick). After lots of prayers and soul searching, she realized she was being called to the counseling field. As someone who calls herself a people person and has always loved getting to know others’ stories, it seemed like a perfect fit. She then applied to counseling graduate programs and kept her fingers crossed. She was accepted to the University of North Texas, where she graduated with her Masters of Science in Counseling.
A self-proclaimed bookworm, Lexie loves to read and will gladly talk Harry Potter with you. In her spare time, she loves to write, cook (she once won first place in a cake-baking contest), and exercise. She also enjoys spending time with her family (she has three younger sisters!) and friends.
“There isn’t a person you wouldn’t love if you could read their story.”
