Mary grew up in the small, northern California town of Chico – which is known nationally for its hometown brewery, Sierra Nevada. Her family lived on a small five acre walnut orchard and all the kids participated in 4-H, raising sheep and pigs. This Mary literally had little lambs!
As the only girl with five brothers, Mary always dreamed of having a sister, so was thrilled to be blessed with two daughters, Natalie and Hailey. After spending all of her life in the same town, and most of her adult life in the health insurance industry, Mary decided she was ready for a change when her children graduated from high school. She and her husband Phil felt the best place to embrace this new phase of life was in Texas where Phil had lived for nearly twenty years. Convincing this California girl took some doing, but the opportunity to go back to school and experience another part of the U.S. was a one she did not want to pass up, so they piled their stuff into a U-Haul truck and made the 1,800 drive.
While working as a manager for a large health insurance company, Mary helped both customers and employees deal with difficult issues related to their health and well-being. She found herself wanting to be more effective supporting others, which led to her pursuit of a degree in psychology from the University of North Texas. She finished a masters degree in marriage and family therapy from Texas Wesleyan University and now specializes in sex therapy and sexual health in the Ft Worth office.
After exploring much of what Texas has to offer, Mary and her husband moved from Flower Mound to Fort Worth—her favorite city in this great state! They moved to Fort Worth August of 2013 and have enjoyed a wonderful new world full of BBQ (Angelo’s is a favorite!), afternoons relaxing next to the Trinity River, and all the art and music they can squeeze into a Saturday afternoon.
