Get to know Mariah

Mariah is a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy and Psychology. Mariah has experience working in various settings with various populations from geriatrics to pediatrics, substance abuse to physical rehabilitation. Mariah is certified in CPR and First Aid, CPI, and CARSS Level I (Certified Adaptive Recreation and Sports Specialist). Mariah recently and successfully completed skills training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in Practice: Mastering the Essentials, that allows her to conduct DBT skills sessions individually and with parents or families. Mariah also completed training in Mindfulness and Self-Regulation for children and adolescents, Suicide Prevention and Counseling Clients who self-harm.

Throughout Mariah’s journey in healthcare, she has had the opportunity to collaborate with mental health professionals, recreational therapists, counselors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists to create and implement individualized treatment plans to help provide the best quality care for clients. Correspondingly, she has worked with clients/patients who have struggled with substance abuse and or mental health, individuals who need help with social skills, individuals with physical disabilities, Autism, and Down Syndrome. Mariah first started working in the healthcare setting and with adolescents in high school while volunteering at a rehab center within her community and providing childcare for families. In college, she continued to volunteer and work with adolescents through the Recreational Therapy club and the Danceability club. In these organizations, Mariah improved adolescent’s inclusion, social skills, and mental health, through dance, exercise, and problem-solving activities.

In her downtime, Mariah enjoys doing yoga and mindfulness training, journaling, crafting, gardening, and volunteering at a local rehab center when time permits. Additionally, she also enjoys engaging in time with her family and friends. Mariah likes to be active, creative, and engage with others, to not only increase joy and positive energy in her own life but in others as well!

Counseling Background

Mariah has always had a passion for helping others and doing all that she can to give them the most optimal care possible. Mariah believes that being able to positively impact others is inspiring and one of the best ways to do that is by helping others with their mental and physical health. Mariah also believes that mental health is very important and should be prioritized for all individuals. Helping improve one’s quality of life and bringing more positivity and joy into one’s daily life is a huge ambition for Mariah as she works in service to others. Mariah believes that being mindful and empathetic when working with others whether it be friends, colleagues, or clients is imperative to fully hear and understand what is needed to be successful. Mariah loves using all the skills and knowledge that she has learned through school and experiences within healthcare to instill the best care possible into every client.

Mariah enjoys working with adolescents, adults and families and learning what she can do to help them learn new ways to cope with intense emotions and difficult situations is her passion. Mariah vows to do her best to respond to anything that’s requested of her within an acceptable time period to assist all families. Mariah does her best to create a schedule that works best for everyone and provides families with the best care possible. Mariah is excited to serve as Lifeologie’s first Associate Professional in the Enhanced Outpatient Services Program. Our Enhanced Outpatient Services program pairs a Licensed Professional with an Associate Professional to provide an optimal level of mental health and wellness support for your loved one!
