Ashley Van Hoozer is a native Houstonian who grew up in the Galleria area and currently resides in Sugar Land, Texas. She is an alum of the University of St. Thomas, where she graduated with her Bachelor’s degree as well as with a master’s in education and a Master’s in liberal arts. Ashley graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Counseling.

Ashley is no stranger to life’s struggles; she has had her fair share of trials and tribulations from surviving divorce, narcissistic domestic abuse, loss of a parent, and infertility issues.  Using her experiences and professional knowledge, Ashley aspires to help adult clients overcome life’s challenges and adversities. Opening up to others and self-discovery is not always easy, however, Ashley will create a safe and non-judgmental space to seek the support needed.

Prior to her training as a counselor, she worked as a certified teacher in Fort Bend ISD. She is also a certified school counselor. Her experience includes working with children with a wide range of needs, including those with disabilities. She believes it is important for children to have the necessary tools to be successful in life. Her motto to children and teens is, “YOU CAN DO IT” with the right guidance and support.

It is Ashley’s desire to support others in their healing journey. Asking for help can be a difficult step. Fear, failure, and hopelessness may be thoughts running through one’s mind.  She has been there and can certainly relate.

Ashley’s counseling approach is based on the Humanistic and Pragmatic schools of thought.  The therapeutic perspectives she gravitates towards are Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered, and Play Therapy for children. She best serves her clients by incorporating a variety of therapies and techniques based on individualized needs. Counseling, to her, is a process and by working together, therapeutic goals can be achieved. Her aim is to give clients the tools, skills, and resources necessary to lead a peaceful and content life.

Ashley’s favorite biblical scripture is Matthew 19:26, “With God all things are possible”.  Through the grace and love of God, He gives HOPE which has been a fundamental strength in her life.

Ashley enjoys spending time with family and friends. Her interests include entertaining, cooking, fashion and beauty, and reading a good novel. Her favorite places to travel are Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the Cayman Islands, and weekend getaways to the Texas hill country. She likes to stay healthy by working out at the gym and practicing yoga and Pilates.  Her guilty pleasures in life are a day at the spa, eating sourdough bread, binge-watching Netflix and reality shows, and listening to true-crime podcasts.
