Get to know David
David Foster is a native of Northern California. He relocated and went to high school in Atlanta, Georgia where he was a student athlete and was highly active in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (J.R.O.T.C.). David enlisted in the military and had the pleasure of traveling quite a bit of the world, where he experienced many cultures and developed his passion for helping others. After more than 23 years, he retired from service in March of 2021 and relocated to Texas with his family. David brings over 20 years of helping others through serving as a Uniformed Victim Advocate, Equal Opportunity Representative, Master Resilience Trainer, and Master Fitness Trainer, and he brings a healthy knowledge of a variety of family and relationship structures. David’s passion is working with Veterans, adult individuals, couples (and other family/relationship structures), LGBTQIA+, and alternative lifestyle practitioners, in the areas of relationships, sexuality, stress management, identity, and anxiety.
David’s approach to counseling is primarily Adlerian in theory, but he incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) methods with a focus on Mindfulness in his practice, which allows him to work alongside you in a collaborative effort to achieve your desired outcomes.
David achieved his certification as a Life Coach from the California Institute of Healing Arts and Sciences in 2008. He went on to earn his associate degree in liberal arts and bachelor’s degree in digital photography from Southern New Hampshire University, and is currently completing his hours toward licensure as a Master’s Level Therapist. When he is not working, David enjoys spending time with his family, his two dogs Mighty Thor and Beast Mode, fishing, working out, playing golf, and listening to live music. David is a firm believer that no one truly learns much from always succeeding. So, when you meet him, be ready to fill him in on all the wonderful things you have had the opportunities to discover.
