Get to know Tassy

Tassy Henderson is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at North Carolina Central University and she is a new intern at Lifeologie. She is expected to graduate this December 2022. Tassy received her undergraduate degree from Elon University in Art and Art Administration in 2015. She is passionate about using her creativity to bring clients toward complete wellness. Tassy finds it vital to focus on clients holistically and work with clients to discover coping strategies and solutions to overcome their challenges.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

As someone affected by mental health at a young age, Tassy found power in expressing her mental frustrations and emotions through artwork. Art has always been a constructive outlet for alleviating her emotions. She found that reflecting on, creating and observing art allowed her to express herself beyond the real life issues that she faced. Through her own healing process and that of her loved ones, Tassy became interested in and developed a passion for understanding and championing better mental health outcomes for individuals and their loved ones. This realization led her to the decision to pursue a career as Clinical Mental Health Counselor and as an Art Therapist. As a future clinician, she found so many benefits in being able to encourage others through self-expression and self-care. Tassy wants to use her personal experience, knowledge, as well as her learning experience, to bring others to the same solace and peace that she continuously finds when she engages in her own wellness.

Counseling Approach

Tassy’s previous practicum experience has allowed her to gain experience in working with adolescents, teenagers, and young adults. Her professional interests include helping clients manage stress, depression, anxiety, spiritual concerns, and childhood trauma. Tassy strongly believes in the value of meeting clients where they are and the power of creating a non-judgmental environment with her clients. Mindfulness interventions and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are two methods that Tassy enjoys using with her clients amongst many others.

In her spare time, Tassy enjoys kayaking, spending time outdoors, traveling, discovering new dishes, spending time with her loved ones and her dog, Jada. Tassy is excited about what is to come of her new internship experience here at Lifeologie!
