Get to know Valerie
Valerie believes everyone deserves a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space to discuss their lives, both high and lows. Rooted in feminist and person-centered theory, her approach to people is that we all have inherent worth and the capability to improve our lives by completely expressing ourselves.
With Valerie, you can know that your story is important and that she will be by your side every step to create a collaborative plan for the desired outcomes you wish to see in yourself and, in response, your life. She knows that only you know yourself best but will also be here to help you consider other options, responses, and possible actions you can take to achieve your goals, all while providing support and understanding. She firmly believes in the saying, “We cannot shame ourselves into change, only love ourselves into evolution.”
After losing someone very important to her to mental health issues, Valerie left the service industry after ten years to re-enter higher education in 2018 at the University of North Texas, receiving her Bachelor’s in Psychology. She is completing her Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Tarleton State University.
When Valerie isn’t working with others, she enjoys cooking (and eating!) with her fiancé, brunch with her friends, playing video games, weightlifting, running, and reading science fiction.
