The final session in our Launching Well series is here! Parents, guardians, and caregivers of students about to graduate, join us for The Grief of Letting Go: Supporting Parents Through the Transition of Children Leaving Home.
This virtual group is a supportive space for parents and guardians of teens preparing to leave home for college, a new career, or another stage of independent adulthood. This life transition often brings a complex mix of emotions (pride, sadness, anxiety, relief, and grief) that are common, yet rarely discussed openly. You’ll find a compassionate, nonjudgmental, therapist-led space to normalize your experience, connect with other parents in a similar season, and gain practical tools for coping with change. Choose a morning or evening option. Both are led by Lifeologie Counseling Rockwall therapist and seasoned career and educational counselor Chelsea Atwell, LPC.
We will explore what grief can look like in this context, and how to cope with change in healthy ways, including how to:
Manage difficult emotions
Foster independence while staying supportive
Navigate anxiety (yours and theirs) during major life transitions
Set healthy boundaries—and stick to them
Practice self compassion
The group is interactive but low-pressure, and participants are welcome to share as much or as little as they feel comfortable.
make meaningful connections
The Grief Of Letting Go is not group therapy, but it is led with a mental health-informed approach. We seek to be proactive rather than crisis-focused. Attendees can expect a respectful, confidential environment, meaningful connection with others experiencing similar changes, and concrete takeaways (including coping strategies and resources) to support emotional wellbeing during this new chapter of life.
