Get to know Lauren

Lauren Murphy specializes in play therapy for children as well as anxiety, addiction, abuse and trauma healing, divorce recovery, identity and sexuality concerns, and dissociative disorders – particularly dissociative identity disorder – in adults. She also addresses attention deficit differences in clients of all ages.

Lauren’s most unique specialty is working with artists who are experiencing performance anxiety. After growing up in upstate New York in a family of creatives, Lauren attended Oberlin Conservatory for music performance. She relocated to Texas for a Master’s in Music Performance from the University of North Texas. However, she found herself drawn to the mental health programs on campus as she re-discovered the widespread anxiety and addiction prevalent in the music world. In response to these realizations, she transferred into the mental health program and now holds a Master’s in Science for Clinical Mental Health.

Lauren believes deeply in the healing power of music and creativity. She continues to develop her musical growth and also speaks at many colleges nationally regarding mental health for performing artists. She continues to perform as a professional musician in the DFW area.

She is a clinical fellow of the American Counseling Association and is recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
