Melodie was born and raised in Dallas and resided in the Lake Highlands area until high school graduation. Soon after marrying her high school sweetheart, she moved to Arkansas. After four years, she and her husband decided it was time to return to the “Big D,” where she continued to be a stay-at-home mom raising their two daughters.
In her own life, Melodie has experienced many life transitions, grief, loss, depression, disappointment, heartache, and pain. The need to receive personal support and healing from life’s difficulties has been what sparked her passion to become a counselor. With encouragement from her family, Melodie returned to school to pursue this goal. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Thomas Edison State University, followed by her master’s degree in professional counseling from Texas Woman’s University. To further her education, she gained extensive training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). Melodie also currently serves on the North Texas EFT Community steering team. Additionally, she was recently trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
Melodie specializes in working with adolescents, adults, and couples. She provides a safe, therapeutic environment for couples to heal from various relational conflicts, feelings of disconnection, healing from affairs, or simply wishing to deepen their intimacy. She also provides premarital counseling for those who are just starting their marital journey. Plus, Melodie walks alongside individuals struggling with grief & loss, low self-esteem, those experiencing various life transitions, trauma, anxiety, and depression.
You can expect to receive the highest level of care and attention from Melodie, who strives to provide acceptance, genuineness, empathic listening, and understanding. She will walk alongside, with unwavering hope, as one grapples through life’s most challenging moments. Melodie views therapy as a collaborative experience and seeks to equip and support, while also gently challenging and reminding one is not alone on their journey. Melodie will continuously strive to create a safe and non-judgmental environment, a sense of feeling cared for, respected, and heard in order to help foster self-awareness, growth, and healing.
Melodie has been married for more than three decades and has two adult daughters, two sons-in-law, and a new grandbaby. When Melodie isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, decorating, baking, and working in her flower beds. In the morning, you can find her drinking coffee, reading, or doing Pilates.
