All About Sydney

Sydney was born and raised in Lubbock, TX. During high school, she navigated multiple sports injuries that led to extensive recovery time in physical therapy. These experiences led her to pursue a career as a physical therapist, seeking to help people recover from life-altering circumstances. However, she soon realized her dislike for freshman biology and thus, began rethinking her future. She took a career test that her university provided, and the top two career suggestions were #1 bartender…& #2 counselor. It’s obvious which one she decided to go with! While she didn’t pursue physical therapy or bartending, counseling still enables her to walk with individuals through painful circumstances towards healing, growth, and freedom.

Sydney graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Honors Arts and Letters. Afterwards, she attended Dallas Theological Seminary, graduating with a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling.

Style and Approach

Because she grew up as an athlete in a conservative religious environment, she centers her talk around perfectionism, anxiety, identity confusion, and shame that can often accompany the teenage/young adult years. She also has a passion for helping individuals with OCD, social anxiety, and other related disorders.

Sydney believes most of life’s hurts take place in the context of relationships and believes healing does too. She sees the counseling relationship as one of the most important aspects of therapy and hopes to be an empathic collaborator during the counseling process. She also works from a Trauma Informed Cognitive Behavioral perspective, utilizing research-based interventions such as ERP (exposure and response prevention). Her specialties include anxiety disorders, depression, co-dependency, anger management, sports, young adult/professional, sexual identity, and can also offer integrated Christian counseling.

When Sydney isn’t counseling you can find her playing pickleball, biking, drawing latte art, and hanging with friends and family!
