Get to know Alyssa

Alyssa was born in Waycross, Georgia and grew up all over the southeast in Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. She completed her Bachelor’s in English Literature at Florida College in Temple Terrace, Florida before moving to Mansfield, Texas in 2020 with her husband who grew up in the area. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Abilene Christian University specializing in trauma. She is looking forward to working with all demographics, especially couples and families.

Alyssa went through traumatic experiences in childhood leading to struggles with anxiety and depression Through the therapeutic process of healing those past traumas as an adult, she was inspired to strive to become the help that she and her family needed during those challenging times. As a preschool teacher for 5+ years, her passion to help struggling children and families coping with difficult situations ignited. Alyssa believes that the family is a vital space in which to foster peace, support, and safety, and that experiences in childhood inform our behaviors and how we relate to others. Alyssa works to create a safe space for individuals, couples, and families to grow and be empowered to make desired changes in their lives.

When she isn’t working, she loves to read fiction, play games including Dungeons and Dragons with friends and family, and watch Discovery Plus with her husband and cats in the comfort of her home.
