Get to know Angela

Angela Castaneda sees small groups and individual children, tweens, and teens, especially those struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, crisis, and trauma. She is an experienced program therapist who has worked with inpatient, residential, and partial-hospitalization patients experiencing eating disorders, mood disorders, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). She is also a certified Health and Life Coach, bringing a full scope of wellness to her practice.

Style and Approach

Angela uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques for eating disorders. She often uses Play Therapy and Expressive Arts Therapy for trauma, anxiety, and depression. She supports all her clients through person-centered and holistic approaches within her counseling practice. 

A born-and-raised New Yorker, Angela moved across the country with her husband to live in Texas during the COVID-19 pandemic in hopes of living a better life. Through her own experiences, Angela understands the challenges that life can bring and the difficulties that can develop with the healing process. She provides warmth through empathy, understanding, and a deep respect for her client's values and beliefs. She is dedicated to empowering her clients to live the life they want to live through support, healing, personal growth, and development. 

Angela earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from the University at Albany, New York, and is currently completing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University, specializing in Trauma and Crisis.
