Denise Jefferson is a Bossier City, Louisiana native who earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Grambling State University, a Master’s degree in social work from Capella University and is now pursuing her doctorate degree in social work from Capella University. Since beginning her career in 2013, Denise has volunteered and worked with various populations and all age groups. Denise has worked in the fields of mental health, medical social work, substance abuse rehabilitation, school social work and domestic violence prevention. Throughout her therapy career, Denise has developed skills in group facilitation, individual counseling, family counseling, outpatient community services, assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, research, program development and evaluation.
Her therapy style is to meet individuals where they are, naturally operating from a strengths perspective. Denise believes in building and maintaining a positive rapport, and “ruling with a velvet fist” to aid clients as they redefine their futures. From an early age Mrs. Jefferson’s goal has been to reduce domestic violence through research and by guiding the male population through the healing process. Determined to promote holistic healing in the community, Denise recognized that in domestic situations the entire family must be the focus. This encouraged her to pioneer Good Men Health, LLC in January, 2023. Denise provides passionate treatment with unconditional positive regard and works tirelessly towards reducing domestic violence and creating a safe space for healing and growth.
Denise Jefferson is the author of “Destiny is What You Make It”, a memoir and self-help book designed to motivate readers to open up about their past and begin the healing process from traumatic situations and life challenges. Denise is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and serves in the AKAdemy of pearls and Young Leaders Institute. She is working collaboratively with the NWLA Re-entry Coalition, actively developing inclusive services as men reintegrate into the community.
For leisure, Denise takes joy in spending time with her husband, children, furbaby and best friend, traveling, decorating, painting, and website designing. Her pearl of wisdom is to “Always operate in love.” Her goal and motto for helping men through Good Men Health is, “Healthy men. Healthy Families. Healthy futures.”
