Counseling Approach

Liva is hard-working and dedicated to helping others. She believes we learn and grow from meeting and serving those others, especially those we may not know. She loves to work with people of all ages and walks of life in building connections that help benefit not only each other but the world. Liva has a passion to help anyone when she can and specializes in individual therapy, couples therapy, and play therapy.

Liva believes the counseling process allows you to reflect and become self-aware to resolve issues within yourself, others, or the world. By listening to the client’s story, she can work with and guide them to a solution that best fits each individual. Her goal, as a counselor, is to establish an open and safe environment that allows clients to beat their obstacles and reach their ultimate goals and gain true self peace.

More About Liva

Liva is a first-generation Cambodian Chinese American. She was born and raised in Texas as her parents immigrated from Cambodia after the Khmer Rouge. Due to the trauma her family endured from surviving a Cambodian genocide and speaking to the student population she works with at Dallas College, Liva become more aware of the world's need for counselors. This inspired her to begin the journey to becoming a counselor. She is currently completing her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Throughout this journey, she has been able to work with many individuals from diverse backgrounds.

When Liva is not working full-time and going to school, she spends time volunteering and going to church. Throughout her life, she has been able to help the homeless, work with those who have mental and physical disabilities, single parents, and children. Meeting new people and learning their life stories is a great pleasure as she believes you can always be a sponge and learn from everyone around you.

The other spare time she does have, you will find her looking for a new hole in the wall place to eat with friends and family, running or working out, or coming up with another idea on how to give back to a community and world that has given her so much more than she can imagine.
