Get to know Melody

Melody believes therapy is useful for everyone but not every therapist may be a good fit. She values the therapeutic relationship between counselor and client, seeing it as the foundation for change and growth. When it comes to therapy modalities, she draws techniques from a variety of theories and approaches. She most often practices cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused brief therapy.

Melody is most excited about helping people connect with their thoughts and feelings in order to produce desired behavioral changes and growth in awareness of themselves and in relationships. Her hope is that people feel cared for, seen, and walk away knowing that they are stronger and braver than they know and believe.

A native Texan, Melody was born and raised in Houston, TX. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin but soon realized that her degree alone did not open the doors she was hoping for and would require her to pursue further education and training.  However, fear held her back from returning to school right away.  Instead, she proceeded to search for jobs that included a passion she was sure about which was working with children. Melody became a foster care worker and preschool teacher assistant before she was reminded of her passion for helping others process their thoughts and feelings in order to become the healthiest version of themselves. Everything fell into place as Dallas Theological Seminary brought its Biblical Counseling program to Houston where she completed her master’s degree in Biblical Counseling.

Melody has been trying to catch up on sleep since having a newborn. When she is not napping, she can be found spending time outdoors with her husband. Melody loves to travel and explore the world, one hike at a time.
