“We don’t have to do it all alone. We were never meant to.” -Brené Brown
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, moved to Texas 3 years ago. Yavierlis is a fully bilingual -Spanish/English- professional that has worked in Counseling with children, adolescents, and families.
Yavierlis views the human being as a whole; body (biology), mind (thoughts), feelings (emotions), and spirit and the impact this has on how we see and experience life. She views the client as their own expert of their story and offers an empathic environment so clients can feel safe and comfortable to be vulnerable in this process together.
She believes that each one comes to this world with a toolbox. This box starts filling up as early as we are born, with tools to help us with life’s experiences. Sometimes life gets hard and throws us some unexpected situations, therefore we don’t have the tools in our box to manage it, that’s the moment when we seek a Counselor for guidance and support. These situations and daily life struggles can lead us to experience stress, depression, anxiety, etc.
As an advocate on the importance of Mental Health, Yavierlis is passionate to work with a wide range of individuals that includes children, adults, couples, and families that are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief & loss, adjustment issues, and trauma among other concerns.
Her experience includes working with children and adolescents with learning disabilities and their families. Also, with adults and families on a more Intensive care in an Outpatient Facility. Recently, has been working in higher education advising college students to make informed decisions about their future.
She earned a Bachelor’s in Science, a major in Psychology from the Pontifical Catholic University in Puerto Rico, and completed her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Ana G. Méndez University Puerto Rico.
Yavierlis is a dog-mama to a beautiful doddle, Arya. When not working, she loves reading, hearing podcasts of motivational speakers, watching movies, and learning. She enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
