Get to know Jean
After taking a psychology course during her undergrad at Belhaven University, Jean discovered that she wanted to help individuals gain a more balanced and healthier mental state. She went on to complete her bachelor’s degree in social servicing and is currently a graduate student at Dallas Theological Seminary to pursue her master’s degree in counseling. Jean has worked with counseling agencies through her practicum to gain experience in private practice counseling. In addition, she has worked with non-profit organizations assisting youth with mental awareness and resources to help provide more suitable family living environments. During her downtime, Jean volunteers with My Brother’s Keeper as an intake consultant where she counsels the homeless, assists with food distribution, and provides additional resources.
Jean was given a strong foundation to love and appreciate others. Those life lessons have become the core of her character, and it reflects on how she works with people today. Jean’s foundation is also reflected when using the Person-Centered Theory during the process of assisting her clients. Her motto is, “it is never too late,” and she believes if someone wants to change something for the better, they can change it. She enjoys working with Teens and Young Adults and also has a passion to work with Women, Couples, and the LGBTQ community. Her goal is to assist each individual through their journey into a more enlightened path.
As a native of The Bahamas but a citizen of America, Jean grew up in the U.S. for the majority of her life. Raised by Haitian parents and the oldest of five siblings, Jean delights in spending time with her family, particularly three nephews whom she loves to spoil. She loves hosting game nights that bring all her friends together for food, fun, and laughter. The great outdoors and the beautiful scenery while fishing and camping also bring her great enjoyment. While she appreciates shopping and trying new restaurants, she also relishes her downtime relaxing and enjoying her favorite television shows.
