Get to know Kate

Kate believes that her clients are the experts in their own lives. She will work with them collaboratively in order to help them build the skills they need to better their lives. She ensures that people feel seen, heard, supported, validated, and above all else, respected throughout counseling.

Kate enjoys working with kids (6-10), tweens (11-14), teens (15-18), young adults (18-27), and couples. She is a good choice for anyone struggling with individual, family, or marital problems that have been impacted by mental health or life transitions.

As a person who comes from a large, blended family, Kate understands the complexities of navigating shifting family structures. She will work with you using a combination of Family Systems Theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy. This will help shed light on existing family patterns so that they can be interrupted and rewritten to better support happiness, success, and connectedness within the family structure.

Kate is also a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion. She will work her hardest to support the mental health of all clients regardless of their age, race, ethnicity, gender/gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or spirituality. She considers it an honor to work with LGBTQ+ identifying individuals as well as gender nonconforming individuals, in addition to couples who practice ethical nonmonogamy. She is committed to providing a safe, nonjudgmental, space to clients who wish to explore these topics in counseling.

When she isn’t at work or in class, Kate can be found spending as much time as possible outside. She loves cooking, singing, dancing and being anywhere near water (but is happiest at the beach!). She also enjoys hiking, biking, and adventuring with her partner and friends! In addition, she enjoys studying music and cinema for fun (when the weather calls for indoor activities). She is interested in world culture and hopes to travel more so that she can experience all there is to explore outside of her beloved home state of Michigan.
