Lindsey Buchanan began her career by studying Psychology at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She then obtained her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from ASU as well. During her time in graduate school, she took extra courses to receive certificates in both Addictions Counseling and Multicultural Counseling. Lindsey gained experience with individuals, couples, groups, and families through interning at a site focused on addiction recovery and trauma. She also gained valuable knowledge by volunteering for a women’s shelter that provides safety and resources to those who have experienced domestic violence.
After graduation, Lindsey moved to the triangle where she began her career in private practice working with teens, adults, and couples. She gravitates towards a collaborative strengths-based approach in therapy. Lindsey uses a variety of theories including Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
