Why seek counseling or therapy for women’s issues? What ARE women’s issues? From wage gaps, rape culture, underrepresentation in politics, business, and STEM, to microaggressions, objectification, sexual harassment, and sexual violence, some issues affect women a disproportionate amount. Modern women are undeniably fierce, but, from a sociological standpoint, women often get the short end of the stick.
Some common dilemmas women may present in counseling may look like feeling like a single parent despite having a male partner, over-compensating for gender-bias in the workplace, or receiving judgmental pushback from men and women for expressing your sexuality. There can be a lot of pressure on women to both perform and sit back, to show up but in “their place.” Counseling can help you explore possible feelings of oppression and objectification and partner with you to shape and strengthen your unique, authentic voice.
