Aijha Banks, LMFT Intern, received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University-Commerce and is currently pursuing her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at Lamar University. Her therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavorial Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy. She specializes in working with individuals, couples and families seeking counseling for abuse, addiction, anger management, anxiety, blended families, bullying, career issues, gender and sexuality, LGBTQ+, stress, trauma, and women's issues.
A Dallas native driven by peace, faith, and love, Aijha prides herself on being a helping hand to her community through philanthropic work. While at Texas A&M-Commerce, she started the Lion Student Foundation. It came to fruition because there were students who could not afford food and on-campus housing. The foundation has served over 1,000 students with their food and housing needs.
Her philosophy of counseling is that "your mentality is the motherboard to your reality," meaning that the way you think determines your perception of life. Aijha believes that checking on your mental health will grant you peace in a world of chaos.
