Get to know Alaina
Midlothian therapist Alaina Behan is passionate about helping children, adolescents, and their families find hope and healing. Through evidence-based play therapy and art therapy approaches, she supports young clients in navigating challenges such as trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, power struggles, relational difficulties, attachment issues, and family or environmental changes.
Alaina’s goal is to provide a space where children and teens feel accepted, cared for, and safe to express themselves in authentic and meaningful ways. Through play and creative expression, children process their experiences and emotions in ways that feel natural and appropriate for their developmental level. With her compassionate and strengths-based approach, Alaina is committed to helping children and their families feel supported and empowered to address life’s challenges with resilience and hope.
She was born and raised in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. She earned a Bachelor’s in English from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Texas at Dallas.
Outside of her work, Alaina enjoys spending time with her family, reading horror and fantasy novels, drawing, painting, cooking, working out, and nurturing her own inner child.
One of her favorite quotes is:
I am not all knowing.
Therefore, I will not even attempt to be.
I want to be more accepting of the child in me.
Therefore, I will with wonder and awe allow children to illuminate my world.
