John (J.C.) Holt

Get to know John

J.C. Holt specializes in cutting/self harm, trauma and helping young adults/professionals navigate life’s challenges. He believes in creating a warm and empathetic environment to work with clients. He believes that clients have the power to change themselves and have the strength to heal. J.C. is passionate about working with many kinds of clients including those with personality disorders and those in non-monogamous/open/polyamorous relationships.

J.C. has a varied background from doing research in a neuroscience lab to teaching art to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He feels that in addition to his graduate training and clinical experience, these varied experiences give a wider perspective to draw from in his work. 

J.C. is a Texas native and has been in the DFW area for over seven years. He has degrees in biology and psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington and is currently pursuing his Master of Science in counseling at Southern Methodist University.

When he’s not seeing clients, J.C. can be found painting, reading and spending time with his partner and their dog Frank.
