Get to know Zachary

With a background as an amateur artist and professional teacher, Dallas therapist Zachary (Zach) Guerrero connects creatively with children ages 3 and up and teens who are experiencing emotional and relational issues or are struggling to connect with themselves and others. He also helps individual adults explore complex and religious trauma, supports individuals and couples navigating sexuality issues, and brings a Gottman-based perspective to premarital and married couples that empowers them with tools to manage conflict, increase intimacy, and fortify their relationships.

Zach tailors his skill set for each client, and often incorporates mindfulness and self-regulatory techniques for anxiety. Through a child-centered lens, he brings a non-directive approach of a child's language of play into his play therapy, and implements activity therapy into his work with teens to build confidence and self-expression. When appropriate, he takes a trauma-informed approach through the Neuroaffective Relational Model (NARM) that addresses attachment, relational and complex developmental trauma.

Zach received his MA in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary and his BA in English from the University of Texas at Austin.

In his free time, Zach  loves hiking and strength training. He also likes to read fantasy, sci-fi, and classic novels. Zach is a plant dad who aspires to create a jungle, a coffee enthusiast, and an avid baker who enjoys experimenting with different flavors. He’s also a digital artist and painter.

Through the compassion of another, Zach was encouraged to evolve from teacher to therapist to help others connect compassionately with their authentic selves.

He is currently accepting new clients at Lifeologie Counseling Dallas Uptown.
