Get to know Amber

Amber Ambriz works with adolescents and adults, especially those struggling with body image issues, eating disorders, stress management, anxiety, panic attacks, anger management, life transitions, spiritual identity and other identity development issues. She also helps her clients tackle multiracial challenges, trauma and chronic pain

Amber excels at combining traditional therapies with alternative approaches, including expressive arts, mindfulness, psychotherapeutic yoga and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). She is also a trained Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Somatic Experiencing Therapy is based on research that has found trauma is stored in the body and in the mind, which can lead to both psychological and physical symptoms. Amber helps guide her clients in becoming more aware of sensations and impulses in their bodies so they can regulate their emotional and physical responses and learn to manage their trauma symptoms by regaining a sense of presence and safety.

Amber creates a safe, accepting, and positive environment that allows clients to feel welcome and willing to work without being afraid to explore their inner selves. She believes the relationship between the counselor and client is of utmost importance so each person feels safe to share their thoughts and concerns freely – without feeling judged.

Amber received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Communications from The University of Texas at Austin and earned her Master’s of Science in Counseling and Development from Texas Woman’s University. She has also completed her 200 Hr Registered Yoga Teacher training through the LISPY school.

When Amber is not at Lifeologie, she enjoys being outside and exploring the DFW area, as well as playing soccer or doing yoga. She is living her best auntie life, and loves connecting with her five nieces as often as possible. She also appreciates being able to bake and cook new recipes; color or draw new pictures; unwind on the couch with Netflix and her husband and cat, Cleo; and traveling to the coast when she can.
