Shayla Buckler, DNP, PMHNP, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Assistant Clinical Professor of Nursing with more than 20 years of diverse experience in clinical, academic, and leadership roles. She offers personalized psychiatric medication management to adolescents and adults at Lifeologie Counseling Midlothian. Using evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches, she specializes in providing care to adolescents who are experiencing mental health challenges and substance use disorders.
Shayla conducts thoughtful and comprehensive assessments, manages psychotropic medications, and collaborates with her clients’ therapists and healthcare providers to develop individualized treatment plans that align with their goals. Her work includes psychoeducation for patients and families, crisis intervention, and helping clients integrate successfully into their communities. She is also passionate about ensuring her team is aware of current best practices and medication safety.
With decades of health care experience, as well as advanced degrees, including a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, she is committed to improving mental health outcomes for underserved populations while shaping the future of nursing through education and compassionate care.
In addition to supporting her Midlothian community, Shayla is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington, and holds adjunct faculty positions at the University of Tyler and Tarrant County College. She is actively involved in curriculum development, clinical instruction, and mentoring future nurses in areas such as psychiatric/mental health, women's health, and population health. Her educational approach emphasizes bridging theory with practice, advancing nursing education, and fostering clinical competence through student mentorship and shared governance.
