Feeling Overwhelmed? Here’s How to Reset
On the outside, it looks like you’re handling everything beautifully. You meet expectations. You follow through. People rely on you. But internally, it’s a different story.
If this feels familiar, you might be experiencing a form of high-functioning anxiety or emotional overload, where you’re still managing life, but at a high cost to your wellbeing. This is not a personal failure. It’s a signal that you’re stressed. But you don’t have to live this way. Here’s a gentle guide to restoring your body and mind when you’ve been carrying way too much.
If You’re Here… Start Here
If you’re here, chances are you’ve been holding a lot together for a long time.
You show up.
You get things done.
But underneath that?
You’re tired.
Not just physically—
mentally, emotionally… internally.
And maybe you’ve told yourself:
“I just need to push through.”
“I’ll rest later.”
But later hasn’t really come.
Before we go any further, I want to say this clearly:
There is nothing wrong with you.
Your mind and body are responding to what you’ve been carrying—
and this guide is simply a place to begin putting some of that down.
What You Might Be Experiencing
You might not call it anxiety. But it can look like:
- Overthinking everything—even small things
- Feeling “on” all the time
- Struggling to relax, even when you have time
- Being the strong one for everyone else
- Feeling overwhelmed… but still functioning
If that sounds like you,
you’re not alone.
And more importantly—
you’re not meant to carry it all by yourself.Got 3 Minutes? Try This Gentle Reset
This is not about fixing everything.
It’s about creating a small moment of support for yourself.
Step 1: Name It
Say quietly to yourself:
“I’m feeling overwhelmed right now.”
(No fixing. Just noticing.)
Step 2: Breathe With Intention
Inhale for 4 seconds
Exhale for 6 seconds
Repeat for 5–6 breaths.
(Longer exhales tell your body: you’re safe.)
Step 3: Ground Yourself
Look around and name:
- 3 things you can see
- 2 things you can feel
- 1 thing you can hear
Let your body come back to the present moment.
you’re productive, successful … and still anxious?
Maybe it’s time to sit with that feeling. You don’t have to answer this perfectly.Just notice what comes up:
What have I been carrying that I haven’t made space to process?
You don’t have to solve it today.
Just acknowledging it… is a start.
reframing your needs
You don’t have to earn rest.
You don’t have to wait until things fall apart.
You don’t have to keep holding everything together alone.
Support is allowed to meet you before burnout.
if you’re considering therapy
If you’ve made it this far, I want to gently acknowledge something:
You paused.
You noticed.
You allowed yourself to consider your own needs.
And that matters more than you think.
In my work, I support individuals and teens who are used to being “the strong one”—
the one who shows up, carries a lot, and keeps going… even when it’s heavy.
Therapy becomes a space where you don’t have to perform,
fix everything,
or hold it all together.
You get to exhale.
You get to be supported.
ready for the next step?
If this resonated with you, this could be your next step.

Because you don’t have to carry this alone.
And I would be honored to walk alongside you in that process.
You don’t have to figure everything out today.
But even recognizing that you deserve care…
that you deserve support…
