Get to know Amanda
Meet Amanda! This woman is a rockstar. She has over 5 years of experience in the field of trauma, substance use, and mental health. She is very passionate about the work she does with people. Amanda is specially trained to provide treatment for mamas and families (that includes Dad’s too !) who are being impacted by pregnancy-related concerns such as postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, as well as treatment for birth trauma. Basically, anything related to post-baby adjustment is within her scope. If you are struggling in these areas, Amanda can help you.
Therapy Can Be Tough
Amanda understands that therapy can be tough… Tough to start and tough to work through. She knows that it’s important to laugh along the way. She will put you at ease in the first few minutes.
Amanda is a certified EMDR clinician (holy tons of training, Batman!). EMDR is an amazing therapy technique designed to help survivors of trauma and abuse. Not only is EMDR one of the most recommended trauma treatments, but it is also highly useful for anyone struggling with postpartum concerns and lots of negative thinking patterns! EMDR is one of the approaches Amanda uses with clients, but she also uses other techniques which are specifically tailored to each individual based on their needs.
A Path That Began In The Wheat Fields Of Kansas
Amanda was born in Kansas (Army brat over here) and was raised in Muskegon, MI. She attended Grand Valley State University for a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work before attending Michigan State University (Go Green!) for her Masters in Social Work.
When not working to save the world (which is why she chose to pursue social work), Amanda loves taking care of plants, spending time with her daughter with their 2 dogs and can often be found hanging out with friends, enjoying the outdoors, going on long drives, or sometimes, just enjoying the many beautiful Michigan areas with a warm cup of coffee in a good coffee shop. Amanda also loves to explore new restaurants around Grand Rapids, because, ya know, food!
